A collaborative piece manifested by _paperspace and B23_17, a multi-disciplinary creative & designer.
Titled 'Limerence' - this piece depicts the state of mind which results from a strong desire for relationship and reciprocation from someone (or something). This intensity can be romantic or non-romantic; but it typically involves intrusive thoughts, fueled by strong desire.
The black in the eyes represents intense desire and as the video progresses, the color tone gets warmer, signifying the progression of this intensity.
In the later part of the animation, four key frames flicker and oscillate between one another, in a seemingly chaotic fashion. This represents the distortion in one's mind that occurs in this state.
As the boundaries blur between art & technology, the notion of desire gets redefined. A want becomes a need - no matter the cost, inevitably changing the way we think and live.

B23_17 is a digital creative, who draws inspiration from the everyday and through constant experimentation. His works are intriguingly provocative; at times transcending the realm of reality into irreality. They are original; sometimes seemingly familiar yet distant. He is an occasional poet and a cat-enthusiast.
You can find me @B23_17 on Instagram and watch my unhealthy obsession with cats play out in real time through my insta stories, or you could check out my 'ketz' highlights, I promise they won't disappoint. Apart from cats, I like books from authors such as Dostoevsky and Inio Asano. Also, please go check out the music Everywhere At The End Of Time by The Caretaker.
Q1: Let's introduce yourself!
Q2: Let's introduce the art - and what do you seek to express or manifest in this collaborative piece?
I took inspiration from Bungie's Marathon project. The context lies in the future where the body acts a surrogate for a consciousness, kind of like in GITS. What if the body is clothing?
Nereids, 3D Artwork, 2022
I have a background in architecture, so I was the kid who wanted to go do art but parents disapproved so we found a compromise there. Was introduced to NFTs because of RTFKT, they collaborated with artists that I follow and it got on from there. Being innately interested in the future of mankind, Web3, NFT, and crypto space naturally converged for me therefore I'm always excited to watch and participate in the development of these spaces.
Q3: Do share with us a little about your journey into art, Web3 and the NFT space.
Q4: You produce interesting and intriguing works; do share more on what inspired you to do what you do.
OH THANK YOU. Honestly I'm pretty much fooling around with the absurd on some days, other days I try to make poetry with images. I think we all need some experimenting to level up sometimes. Inspiration comes from everywhere, including you, yes you _paperspace. Oh, also occasionally I try to express the pains of life.
Q5: How do you see or position yourself in the Web3 space? Do you see yourself as a creative, artist or designer?
I don't exactly have a definite positioning, perhaps in the future, I'm currently just enjoying the space as it is and watching the future unfold right before my eyes. I think that is plenty exciting.
Q6: Do share some thoughts on your expectations of the future in the NFT, or Web3 space in the coming years. What do you envision and what do you hope to achieve?
I want NFTs to go beyond jpgs or mp4s or mp3s. I envision NFTs as accessibility, as identity, there are so many things and information that we exchange that are virtual. I think this may be more prevalent when VR becomes mainstream. Looking forward to a whole other ecosystem connecting multiple realities. I hope to participate in any way to building that future.
